"When I was a little girl, my grandmother lived with us and cooked festive meals based on the recipes she brought over from Italy on weeknights, mind you we were very spoiled! The smell of fresh baked bread, sauteéd veggies and roasted meats filled every room in our home. The magic moment of every day was finishing my homework and racing down the stairs to see the vibrant dishes my grandmother had lovingly made for us. For me, the beauty, the aromas, and the love were all wrapped up in that moment.
My parents, who enjoyed traveling, decided one summer when I was twelve, that we would embark on a PanAm luxury trip to Italy. Our first stop was Rome where my Mom had lots of cousins. The late night dinners and the artisanal food on beautiful handmade plates felt at once familiar and exotic to me. Like home and adventure. I was hooked! From early on, I knew that food, family & friends were going to be a big part of my life and I would enjoy every minute of it."

Donna Cacciatore Smith

In search of suppliers, Donna and Samuel Smith, the founders of the brand, traveled hundreds of times to Italy and Portugal, both countries famous for their heritage in ceramic craftsmanship.
They visited local potters and factories and, as they watched skilled artisans finish and paint each piece by hand, they were inspired to create a unique assortment of authentic and charming pieces that defines CASAFINA's lifestyle until today.

"We worked with large and world-renowned factories, as well as small family-run companies. As our business began to grow, we expanded our range of products with travels to other cities in Europe. Twice per year, we introduce new products to ensure that there is always something fresh and exciting for Casafina’s small, independent retailers."

Today, Casafina is best known for the Casa Stone® collection, our exclusive line of Fine Portuguese Stoneware of exceptional quality. True to our beginnings, we continue to develop hand-painted ceramics from Portugal and Italy. Casafina also includes products from other parts of the world such as tabletop and accent glassware from Romania and complementary handcrafted metal products from India.

"Our goal at Casafina is to offer distinctive, high-quality products for the finest retail stores and their customers in North America."
